Re: [modeling-pmc] OMG Business Committee Questionnaire regarding the QVT 1.3 RTF report

Thanks. I will continue to defer to Kenn and the Modeling PMC's judgment.

Hi Wayne

It's all a bit woolly. Full OMG document attached.

There is no QVT compliance suite. Even if there was, would a full implementation need to be 99% / 99.9% / 99.99% / 99.999% ... compliant? Given a realistic number of bugs in the specification, anything more than best endeavours is ridiculous. Eclipse QVT has contributed to revealing numerous bugs in previous versions. Eclipse QVT was and will never be compliant because it fixes rather than faithfully inflicts specification bugs. (In a few years time, auto-generation work in progress may significantly reduce divergence.)

Answers can only represent today's plans. In the real world, projects/products can be wound up at very short notice.

The only real purpose of the BCQ is to reassure the OMG Executive Board that they are not approving something that noone is interested in implementing. Unimplemented specs make the OMG look bad.

A quick search did not reveal the nature of a "vendor commitment". Is that entirely captured in the questionnaire?

Hi

The QVT 1.3 OMG specification is now available in Beta form so a BCQ requests vendor commitment.
