Re: [modeling-pmc] Re: [oaw-dev] Re: openArchitectureWare

Hi Rich,

this is not a release announcement, but our release planning page.
I also haven't yet heard anything from Jean :-(

Hello,

Not only has the oAW page not been updated/removed, but there’s even a new release announcement on the wiki: http://wiki.eclipse.org/OAW_4.3.1

Jean, are you able to do this or do you need some help?  I don’t recall seeing a reply to the question below.

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Jean,

we would like to put the text below online. But it seems that we don't have commit rights for the web CVS module anymore.

Could you or someone else put it online, if we provide the html document? Or could you give one of us the needed permissions?

thanks,
Sven

Hi all,

as openArchitectureWare as a project is no longer part of Eclipse, we've been asked to remove the website found under www.eclipse.org/gmt/oaw <http://www.eclipse.org/gmt/oaw>  .
Because this has been one of the landing pages for the community of oAW, we would like to replace the current page with a single html document, explaining the changes to the community and providing a link to www.openarchitectureware.org <http://www.openarchitectureware.org/>  (which is the project's web site).

If you're all ok with it (especially with the text below), we can do so until december 1st.

"""
Over the last couple of years, openArchitectureWare has evolved from a small and relatively unknown Open Source project at Sourceforge to one of the leading toolkits for model-driven software development, thanks to a lively and dedicated committer community and a rapidly growing user base. The move to Eclipse GMT was a milestone in oAW's history. oAW is contributing its base technologies to some Eclipse Modeling Subprojects, Xpand and Xtend to M2T, the oAW Workflow to the Modeling Workflow Engine and Xtext to the Textual Modeling Framework (TMF).

As a consequence of this evolution, however, oAW can not be considered a "prototype and research project" anymore. This means that it can not stay in the Eclipse GMT project, whose purpose is to "produce a set of prototypes in the area of Model Driven Engineering (MDE)".

Therefore, as of Dec 1, 2008, openArchitectureWare will leave Eclipse GMT it's primary home on the web will remain at openArchitectureWare.org. There oAW will continue to
* host innovative and clever new solutions to problems related to MDSD
* be a ready-to-go, well-tuned toolkit for model-driven software development,
* integrating best-of-breed components from Eclipse modeling

For the user of openArchitectureWare nothing will change. Internally, several components will be hosted at Eclipse Modeling and "imported" into the oAW distribution.

Thank you for your support of openArchitectureWare, and stay tuned!
"""

thanks and best regards,
Sven
