Re: [modeling-pmc] Can't find modeling project (easily) from new Eclipse.org homepage

Nick,

I really don't like the new page at all.  It seems to be selectively highlighting only certain aspects of Eclipse and in doing so is sidelining everything else.  If there were a modeling pillar, we'd obviously have less complaints in that regard, but any approach that only makes certain things easier to find at the expense of other things just doesn't seem like a good approach.  The page just seems glaringly different from every other page at the site, so that aspect seems bad as well.  You'd think that the page would try to help make the Callisto release easy to find.  Your help in trying to steer this in a good direction is appreciated...

Additional. Opened a couple bugs on this categorization problem here:

A couple of very long bugs talking about the reorging of "pillars" on the
new Eclipse homepage design.

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=159588
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=155235

At the moment, we're apparently
(https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=159588#c76) being stuffed
under "Application & Tools Platform" or "Application Frameworks", but as
you can see from the prototype new homepage... http://www.eclipse.org/...
we're not on there yet. Recommend adding your collective $0.02 to the bugs
above.

As it stands now, here's the click route to get to the Modeling project
pages:

* Go from the homepage to downloads (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/)
* then "by project" (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index_project.php).

If you go to "by topic" (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index_topic.php)
you'll find us under "Rich Internet Applications", which strikes me as
rather odd. Maybe that whole category should just be renamed. Or maybe it's
a tip of the hat to the Modeling PMCs? If that's the case, shouldn't it be
"Rich et al.'s Modeling Projects?" ;-)

Cheers,
