RES: RES: [mobile-iwg] Mobile SDKs installation view enhancements

Title: Re: RES: [mobile-iwg] Mobile SDKs installation view enhancements

The problem is that I liked the pulsar logo a lot and wanted to have a way to use it on the view J

I agree that move all repositories to a major node don’t add a lot of value to the user. If any one has some other suggestion of how to use it, I would like to hear it. Otherwise I can live without it

About the new information that is available, eash sdk provider needs to set

-          Sdk provider description

-          Sdk provider banner: we are referring some imagines on the pulsar website. If some provider wants to change that please file a bug and send us the patch

-          Sdk provider URL: we have some sample urls there. Please double check if they are correct

This information is currently is hard coded in the reporitories.properties file. Please file a bug and send a patch to change it

There is also a SDK description and URL that we currently read from the content.xml (properties org.eclipse.equinox.p2.description and org.eclipse.pulsar.documentation.url). it would be nice if the metadata tool could include that information.

I like the improvements a lot! The additional info panel gives the view a lot of visual appeal while adding space for providers to add additional information. :)

As far as the root node idea goes, though, it seems a little forced to put all the SDK repositories under a single node for the purpose of highlighting the eclipse project that generated the functionality. I don’t think I’ve seen any examples of that (maybe I’m wrong). Also, it takes up screen real-estate and doesn’t actually benefit the user. Anyway, this is only my opinion.

Thanks david marques for this contribution! This contribution also adds
the support to password protected repositories on the quickinstall view.

Attached is a view snapshoot. The main idea is that now there is an area
on the right side of the view with information about the SDKs.

Other possible improvement here is to add a root node called "Pulsar"
and move all repositories to be under it. this root node will have:
- information about pulsar itself
- pulsar logo
- link to pulsar website

Do you guys think it is a good idea?

There are still a couple of improvements that could be made. I will send
a separated email with a list of them. Feedbacks and contributions are
welcome of those last improvements.
