Re: [mat-dev] Bugfix release, migration to Git

I opened bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=392920 to ask the webmaster to migrate our website to Git.

Subject: [mat-dev] Bugfix release, migration to Git

I want to suggest / discuss some of the following two topics:

1.       Next release – we had already some fixes made after 1.2.0 was released. I propose that we make the 1.2.1 bugfix release already. Afterwards we move to 1.3.0 development and target Kepler as a release date for it.

2.       Git migration - sooner or later we need to move to Git. So far I was reluctant to do this, as Andrew didn’t have yet Git experience, and from my own experience I know that the first steps with Git can be hard. Afterwards it is very nice J. But again - we have to do it sooner or later. I propose the following:

a.       Migrate the MAT web site from CVS to Git immediately, following http://wiki.eclipse.org/Git/Migrating_to_Git#Migrating_Your_Project_Website . This should give us the possibility to try out what working with Git at Eclipse means. And we must do it this year anyway.

b.      Once we have a good feeling with the website in Git, we migrate the source code to Git also

What are your thoughts on this?

Krum
