Btw. I asked the audience in the M2M and Embedded session today, if they used other programming languages than Java, and not a single person ever used Lua. One said they at least heard about its existence...

And Russians are quite active in other areas, e.g. the Metro has NFC based access control everywhere, even some Android apps on NFC enabled devices can be used instead of one-way paper cards. And with companies like Nokia there are research projects on Sensor Web as far back as 2006.
