Did you report a bug or an enhancement request about it in Bugzilla so it can be found in the backlog?

The few regular contributors to m2e are probably busy with some other stuff which is higher priority to them, in m2e or some other projects.

But it's actually being worked on by yourself apparently: if you have a working patch that improves things, you could try to polish it and submit it as a change in m2e. If it's good enough, it would be merged.
