Project lead here: I have not tried this setup, someone from IBM might chime in here, but lyo client relies on httpclient from apache and you can always disable tls cert check for dev purpose https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2703161/how-to-ignore-ssl-certificate-errors-in-apache-httpclient-4-0

Or use Let’s Encrypt to get a real cert ;) (requires jdk1.8u101 or higher) on the client side to recognise this cert, though.

My main concern is the certificates       as I think they are self-generated,

 

I would rather like to test my code on a test systems before I try it on the real system.
