Re: [lyo-dev] Using Eclipse Lyo vs. ???

Steve,

Valid points.  After further use of the library hopefully I can provide feedback.

Hi,

I think it depends on a few factors whether the Java client library helps you out our not.

It would NOT help you out much if:
- experienced with writing HTTP/REST calls from Java
- experienced with dealing with data format (RDF) parsers in Java
- simple authentication support from connecting provider
- you have a different client programming language or just need some simple scripting access (Perl, etc) then it wouldn't help much
- depending on your use case

The great thing about the client library is that it has recently been released to Eclipse Lyo, it is open source and the community can provide feedback on how to make it better.  Perhaps it would be good to, in addition to your questions, ask what could be done to Lyo client libraries to make them more valuable to you?

I have been looking at the Eclipse Lyo code base and from the perspective of a client accessing a OSLC Provider I am not seeing a reduction or simplified level of code compared to writing straight OSLC?  Is there any value gained or is it just on the provider side?
