Almost.

2.2.1 is not planned at all and will happen only if there is some major bug to justify it.

Yes, master should be targeting Luna now. Jeff and me was planning to do these changes once 2.2 is out.
If someone volunteers to do the needed changes I wouldn't mind if it happens sooner.
Even changing 3.0 to require Java 7 as it looks like no one objects is something I would love to see.
