[linux-distros-dev] Re: [technology-pmc] PMC approval needed for committer vote for anithra

Based on the nomination text, I managed to find the bugzilla entry containing the contribution and took a look through it. All of the .java file in the contribution have three names in the headers. Other than a file path in the DMRequest.java (which somebody should probably look at btw), there is no evidence that Anithra did any work on it (though, this is pretty compelling evidence that he did work on it).

I took a quick flip through the SVN repository on SourceForge. There is evidence that Anithra moved the already-existing code into the repository, but I haven't come across any evidence of ongoing development.

There is very little record in bugzilla to support the nomination. I've only found one entry in the mailing list from Anithra announcing the contribution.

I am concerned that, without some public record detailing the value brought by the new committer it is difficult for other prospective committers to understand where the bar is set. What does somebody need to do to be worthy of joining the project?

Now... I do get a warm and fuzzy feeling that Anithra will be a valuable committer. The vote has been approved.

In the future, as part of these elections, please provide more explicit justification for the election. Explicitly list the bug number. Explicitly state that he was a major contributor.

Thanks,

Wayne

technology PMC Members,
This automatically generated message marks the completion of voting for
anithra's Committer status on the technology.linux-distros project. As a

anithra was nominated by Andrew Overholt as follows: Anithra and his team at IBM have been working on the SystemTapGUI project
for a while now. They have contributed it to our project and it only makes
sense that Anithra become a committer to continue work at eclipse.org. We
will obviously expand to other members of the team when they contribute
patches, etc.

Thanks,

Andrew
