The backport is pretty much complete (I have created the bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=378790 to track this work).

These changes can be reached from the indigo branch.

Hi Martin,

You summary sounds correct. I just want to clarify something.

Libra has an Indigo-compatible version, but it only contains two features: OSGi Bundle Facet and WAR Products.
For Juno we introduced two new features: OSGi Framework Launchers and OSGi Framework Editor

The Launchers feature is compatible only with the Juno version of the Eclipse Platform, because of a dependency to a PDE API. This can be downported to the Indigo stream, but requires some efforts. Here, I guess, Naci should state if he can commit to downport this feature.

The Editors feature is actually the moved parts from the Virgo IDE to Libra. They are compatible to both Indigo and Juno. It should not be much effort to downport them to the Indigo stream. I can commit doing this.

Greetings,
Kaloyan

Hey Kaloyan! Hey Naci!

It is great to see that our early plans to contribute code from Virgo IDE to Libra (and then consume those parts back into the Virgo IDE) are reality now. Thanks a lot again for your work on that!!!!!

Since I am supervising (and paying) Miles and Leo for their work on the Virgo IDE tooling at the moment, I stumbled across this conversation at the mailing list:
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/libra-dev/msg00142.html

Since our main internal customers here (they are mostly sponsoring your development for the Virgo IDE at the moment) will not be able to switch his development environment to any Juno release soon, we definitely need to be able to use the Virgo IDE on top of Indigo. As far as I understood from the conversation mentioned above, this requires some kind of Indigo-compatible build/update site of the Libra project (since we are depending on the moved parts from Virgo IDE to Libra). And as far as I understood the conversation, this requires some work, but is possible to do. Is that right? It would also mean to have this Indigo-compatible Libra version to use the Indigo-version of WTP, right?

As far as I understood, it would result in an Indigo-compatible update site for Libra that we could consume for our Virgo IDE work. That update obviously wouldn't be part of the Indigo repos, but that is fine for us, I think.

My question now: Is my summary here correct? And is there anything we can do to help you with this work? Since we definitely depend on the Indigo compatibility, we are highly interested in this. And do you see any special problems/challenges with implementing this?

Looking forward to hearing from you!!!
-Martin
