Hi All,

The option Preferences > Java > Appearance > Type Filters can be used to specify types and packages to hide in various UI elements like Open Type dialog, content assist, quick fixes, and organize imports. The default in Eclipse IDE is to hide nothing except forbidden references.

Bug 571758 [1] discusses adding some default values to this list. Please comment on the bug if you would like to see any defaults in the Type Filters (checked or unchecked).
