+1 for no more auto-closing.

I'm not sure of the exact conditions under which a bug is auto-closed,
but I have seen bugs with ~10yrs of no activity get taken by new
contributors and fixed. I really don't think that would have happened
if they had been closed as WONTFIX.

I agree with Mickael as well that maybe touching old bugs is the real
issue.
