Re: [ide-dev] Prominence of the Eclipse IDE dowlnoad button in the download page

Ian,

Once the Friends of Eclipse campaign is finished I believe this issue will go away.  Do you agree?

Ian,

I know there was (is?) lots of debate about the initiative to redesign the downloads page. However, I don't think this particular issue is about that. This is related to the specific issue of the download button being bellow the fold (actually, it's not just below the fold, without a maximized browser it's off the page).

Cheers,

Ian

The bug in question is

/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=493809

The download page redesign was completed earlier this year.  The Board ask
us to redesign this page to reflect the diversity of the Eclipse community.
The old download page only showed the Eclipse Platform IDEs but the Eclipse
community is actually much larger than these projects.

I know some people don't think this is the correct approach for the download
page. I would also suggest this thread is probably not the correct place to
have that debate.  If you would like to have the debate, please open a bug.
I would also encourage you to engage with the Board committer reps on this
issue.

If someone wants to suggest improvements to the Eclipse Neon section of the
download page please feel free to open a bug. If someone wants to take
ownership of an IDE landing page to promote JDT, please open a bug. I would
be happy to help support that initiative.

I hope this helps.
Ian

Please send all correspondence about the Downloads page to Ian Skerret. He
made the decision. There is a bug but comments there didn¹t seem to make a
difference.
