+1. The quick fix should be sufficient when it’s bugging people.
I agree with that, In previous discussions on this list discoverability was considered an issue. By disabling the feature we make things worse.

I don’t think that disabling spell checking by default is wise. The spell checker already has an easy way for folks to opt out with a “disable spell checking” quick fix, so it’s a trade off of slightly inconveniencing those that
don’t want the checking vs. having users that do want it not know that it’s there.
