Re: [ide-dev] Ctrl-1 driven development

Hi, I'm using Eclipse since a long time.

I always wondered why there is no xml autocompletion like Altova's xmlspy has, since 10 years.

Ctrl-1 is great, but if we want to go beyond we should provide a Ctrl-2 with a better support for context operations.
-> Ctrl2 on bottom right it is not immediate. Can't we open a context menu with submenu on Ctrl-2 ? ( so we'll show things )
-> Ctrl-1 sometimes is not relevant, I'd say is great for errors, but not when propose you "rename in workspace"

Many people are now discovering intellij because of the network effect after Google switch.
Eclipse has great potential, and it is time to show the initial vocation to have a multi-language IDE.
+2 to making more clear how to use the ide and (i suggest) wow to contribute.
+1 to top 10 JDT favourite features talk - why don't we open a contest on this?

Other sparse ideas:
- improve HTML WYSIWYG Editor, _javascript_ support, and namespace support inside xml

Kind Regards,
Patrik

CDT definitely would benefit from a better website.  I have hope it would help lower the barrier-to-entry for C/C++ developers to use eclipse as well as keep users informed and interested.

I can also allocate some time to help with the content and maintenance. Doug is better than me at choosing what is interesting or not as content, but I'll help in whatever way I can. And I completely leave the graphical design to the experts.

Thanks for the possible help Ian!

FWIW, I agree that FEEP should be used for fixing bugs. I can pay for
the design work out of my marketing budget. However, I need to get
buy-in from JDT and CDT that they will 1) provide and maintain the
content, and 2) participate in the design process.
