[hyades-dev] Planning Group & PMC Group Notes for August 3rd, 2004

Apologies for the late delivery of these meeting notes.

1) Apologies etc.
Attending:
Tyler Thessin, Intel
Mike Norman, Scapa
Gian Franco Bonini, SAP
Don Ebright, Compuware

Observing:
Melanie Woods, Scapa

Apologies:
Rob Sinclair, IBM
Harm Sluiman, IBM
George Din, FOKUS
Serge Lucio, IBM

2) Minutes and matters arising
The beginning of today's call conflicted with the end of the committer
call.
ACTION: Tyler to advise if the timeslot for the planning group call will
change.

3) PMC and Eclipse interaction
The Test and Performance Tools Platform Project proposal was approved by
the Eclipse board on Thursday, 29th July. Congratulations and thanks to
everyone for their efforts in making this happen.
ACTION: Tyler to speak to Mike Milinkovich to find out if there was any
feedback from the presentation to the board.

4) Operation of the current plan
No one present from the committer call.

5) Technical forward plan
As the project has now been approved, planning for future releases needs
to take place urgently. Further website updates are also needed. Ideas
and suggestions for the new groups (e.g. the test model group) should be
discussed on the mailing list in order to kick-start the processes for
each project. Processes for project leads also need to be discussed and
finalised.
The data collection calls have already started up. A face-to-face (F2F)
meeting to talk through the development of the RAC
will take place, however, no firm dates have been set. It had been
planned for the second or third week of August, but not yet finalised.
It is becoming more likely that the next quarterly F2F meeting will take
place in early September.
ACTION: Tyler, Mike and Harm to get together to discuss the direction of
the RAC development.
ACTION: Tyler to check with Harm on room availability etc. in Toronto.
ACTION: Tyler to email proposed times and agenda ideas to the group.

6) Internal and external communication
The remaining scheduled interviews will take place this week. Mike and
Tyler have a presentation slot on Thursday, August 5th at LinuxWorld.
Feedback from the press has been positive and the analysts briefed have
all been interested in more deep technical information. One piece of
feedback from the analysts from RedMonk was an indication that the
current messaging is too 'early lifecycle' focused. Tyler and Mike have
been working on the presentation material to try to fix this.
There will be a round table discussion on the broader subject of the
benefits of Eclipse for Linux users. Mike will take part in this. A
demonstration of the Hyades Linux capabilities has also been put
together and will be available from the Intel booth following Mike and
Tyler's presentation on Thursday.
A list of the press coverage received as a result of the launch
activities will be drawn up over the next while.
ACTION: Melanie to provide this list to the planning group.

Next Planning Group meeting: Tuesday, 10th August 2004, - 5pm CET / 4pm
BST / 11am EST / 8am PST
