So +1 is very posible as it just the compnents that need to be compliled with 1.5 you can then us the 1.5 runtime to run the 1.4 and 1.5 components. But you now force folks into a 1.5 runtime which not a very good move whereas staying with 1,4 give the best runtime choices. But if your looking for less adoption then 1.5 is the way to go

I don't believe the +1 case is possible at all due to most of our
components are interdependent. At least it is impossible just to
choose version of Java for the core components.

Anyway my vote is +2
