I agree. Being able to put up an Open Social or other face in front of an enterprise directory or address book or whatever would not only get IdAS in front of more people, but would build bridges to adoption.

Hi Jim,

I’m sitting here in the audience at IIW listening to Joe Smarr of Plaxo, and Kevin Marks of Google. They are going on and on about what they’re calling the “open stack”:

  • OpenID

  • XRDS-Simple

  • Oauth

  • Portable Contacts

  • Open Social

Listening to them has reinforced for me that your idea that you presented at the Higgins F2F of creating a RESTful API (probably using JAXRS) that had “Open Social” and “Portable Contacts” API-personalities is a very good one. It would keep simple things simple. It would help them see Higgins IdAS from their POV. It would provide a gentle introduction to the deeper functionality of IdAS (and XDI).
