[higgins-dev] Derived datatypes for property values

This is an OWL question.

 

The list of XML Schema datatypes listed here is what I based the table here on.

 

What I'm wondering about is the notion of further derivation. Can one derive new datatypes based on those? To contrive an example, could one use something called usPostalCode which is derived from xsd:string but introduces additional constraints like [0-9]{5}(-[0-9]{4})?

 

If so, I think it would be smart to build in some extra IdAS attribute value infrastructure to handle cases where people add their own xml schema datatypes.
