I've set up a mailing list (see list description below) for technical
discussion among people intending to implement and deploy stuff
that works
with the "identity metasystem" as proposed by Microsoft. It is
intended
to be complementary to the idworkshop discussion. A number of
Microsoft
developers are prepared to participate, and I've heard expressions of
interest from many non-MS people too.
(Note for conspiracy theorists: this was entirely my idea, based on
wanting more info about how all this stuff can/will/should work.)

List Description :
This list is for discussion of implementations of "Identity
Metasystem"
components based on the Microsoft proposals. Appropriate topics
include:
* technical information about Microsoft's code-named "InfoCard"
identity
selector, and compatible implementations from other providers;
* technical information about implementations of metasystem-
supporting
Security Token Services from Microsoft and other providers,
including
use of WS-Trust (and other protocols as appropriate) in those
services;
* use of the metasystem to support diverse token formats;
* use of authentication methods in metasystem request/response
operations;
* extensibility of metasystem components in various directions,
including
interoperability considerations;
* usability and deployability issues with metasystem components.
Topics out of scope include:
* the nature of "identity";
* evangelism of competing system or metasystem architectures;
* legal/policy/ethical considerations of metasystem design/
operation.
Membership is unlimited. Moderators reserve the right to cancel
postings
deemed inappropriate.
