Dear Graphiti developers,

at the CodeGeneration 2011 conference in Cambridge/UK there was yesterday a BoF session, which had as a topic to provide DSL and Code Generation based tooling to create Graphiti based editors even more rapidly. There are several parties already who do something like this in specific projects, e.g.
http://www.codegeneration.net/cg2011/sessioninfo.php?session=3 (Graphiti, Project specific DSLs & Code Generators)

As a result, we created the Eclipselabs project "Spray", where we want to combine our ideas and efforts to create concrete solutions.

It will be something comparable to what GMF Tooling does against GMF Runtime, but more useful, understandable and compact. We believe that code generators should produce as few code possible, exactly how developers would produce the code by hand. And hopefully the tooling will be one day that mature and used that it might make sense to move it even into Graphiti or GMP.

Some interested parties are:
- Jos Warmer (independent)
- Marko Boger (Gentleware / University of Konstanz)
- itemis (The Xtext team, Markus Völter, Stephan Eberle / Sphinx & Artop, Andreas Graf (BDM Automotive))
- Pedro Molina (Capgemini Spain)
- Christian Merenda (OOMEGA)

This will be a great opportunity for all, and we are interested in staying in close contact to the Graphiti team for this.

Thank you for this great framework and let's stay in touch!

Kind regards,
~Karsten
