Re: [gef-dev] Migration to Git repository

Hi Alexander

Migrating the entire GEF/Draw2d/Zest repository from CVS to Git at the same time you create the GEF 4 branch within Git is likely a great idea.

This will however increase the pressure on the build team to change the build from CVS to Git.

Ian was going to work on the "new build" during Indigo, not sure that the progress is ( http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/gef-dev/msg01400.html ).

Cheers...
Anthony

Hi all,

I noticed that the Platform is moving its sources to Git this Juli (see my last comment int https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=347636). While we had already planned to create the new 4.0 provisional branch within a Git repository, wouldn't it be an option to migrate the GEF cvs repository to Git as well beforehand? That would probably make it pretty easy to create the GEF 4 branch within Git, while we could probably also better apply patches to all our then existing branches (3.x head, 3.7 maintenance, 4.0 provisional).

Cheers
Alexander
