To use the newsgroups, you must obtain
a userid and password

The open source GEF project is just
beginning.  We have had our first *open* source release (3rd release
in total), with minor bug fixes and translation into other languages following
in the next month.

The GEF newsgroup is only archived at
dev.eclipse.org, not on google or other news servers.  I can see every
message, but it takes Internet Explorer forever to layout the <TABLE>
used to render an indented tree, so be patient.

Hi,
I just tried to access the archives of
the GEF mailing list but get a pop-up box
asking for authentication. 
What is the user-id/password?
Same is true when trying to access the web UI
for the news group.
Last but not least, the newsgroup 
eclipse.tools.gef doesn't seem to exist
on the eclipse news server. I also can't
find it on groups.google.com

Is the GEF project still active?

Any help is very much appreciated.
