Just to illustrate the problem:

On a plain eclipse WTP/JEE installation with JBoss Tools installed (JBT doesn't really matter since the limit with any additional installation)
running on OSX where ulimit is set to unlimited by default.

lsof -p <pidofeclipse> shows 1969 files open on a startup with -clean
and "only" 887 files open without clean.

Same picture goes when just having installed something with P2.
