Thanks for filing. I could duplicate the rendering problem in Wayland. Really weird.

In RC4 the tip dialog will not show on startup (on a fresh configuration).

Alas, I have found a couple more issues with the Tip of the Day feature
[1, 2, 3], one of which can even crash Eclipse itself [3] (at least
under Ubuntu).

While I understand that Wim is still working hard on fixing bugs, given
that RC4 is nearly upon us, I am still nervous about including the Tip
of the Day feature in the Java package.

@Wim: Is there a way of shipping the feature but having it disabled by
default? If so, would you still get enough value (in the sense of
real-users testing it) out of it or is "disabled by default" as good as
"not present"? I am really looking for a way that would help us improve
the feature as fast as possible so that we can ship it to our users
(because I think it can be really helpful), while at the same time not
annoying end users while the feature is still in its polishing phase.
