Re: [epp-dev] Luna SR2 RC4 (final)

No, no need for further discussion. This is exactly what  "EclipseRT Target Platform Components" is for ... everything ELSE should be installable into your IDE, but the "targets" are defined (and described in UI :) as:

This category identifies various Eclipse technology that is commonly used in runtime scenarios from RCP to embedded to server side. The components in this category are intended to be added to your Target Platform, rather than your IDE.

Thanks,

Yes, I installed everything that was categorized and that could be installed for my target environment. I thought features that are categorized were supposed to be things that users can install in their IDE? Should RAP be uncategorized? In fact, it feels like "EclipseRT Target Platform Components" should not be visible. Perhaps we could discuss this further in bug 457287.

BTW, if I do leave out RAP then it works. So it looks like it's the correct behavior.

Hi Marc,

if you really tried to install *everything* from the repository an unsatisfiable message is the expected and correct behavior. There are some components from Runtime projects that should not be present in an IDE which is why we try hard to prevent their installation *into* the IDE.

Having said this, it *should* work if you lead out the things in the Runtime category.

Can you confirm that my explanation matches with what you tried? I.e. that you tried to install everything? That would be important to know.

Thanks, Markus

Hi Package Maintainers,

the Luna SR2 RC4 build is ready. Download location of the packages from the usual place on Hudson:

https://hudson.eclipse.org/packaging/job/luna.epp-tycho-build/265/

Don't forget to test update scenarios from older Luna releases. The p2 repositories required for this are

https://hudson.eclipse.org/packaging/job/luna.epp-tycho-build/265/artifact/org.eclipse.epp.packages/archive/repository/

http://download.eclipse.org/releases/maintenance/

In contrast to other RCs we are not going to publish RC4 tomorrow/Friday on the download page. It will be published as the final SR2 build after quiet week instead.

Please send your votes until Monday. That will give me enough time for the preparation of the release.

Thanks,
Markus
