Re: [epp-dev] Kepler with Java 8 packages

Thanks, Markus.

Would you be able to help move the packages to their final location on the downloads server on Monday? I imagine that Hudson builds storage is mounted at a location visible from the downloads server, so we would just need to do a copy command, but I do not know what that path might be.

Thanks,

- Konstantin

Hi Konstantin,

I know you were asking for opt-outs only, but I'm happy to opt-in (for my RCP/RAP package only).

Let me know if you need help or anything else. I wasn't able to attend the PC call on Wednesday but I think this is a very good solution that offers the consumers a ready-to-run download with Java 8 support included. Thanks for pushing this forward and doing the work!

Thanks,
Markus

I'll admit I know *nothing* about Java EE, except that I know JavaEE 8 is not available (it's not even a thing yet). Does it make sense to build the JavaEE Package with Java 8 support? Will this confuse people or is this still valuable?

People are free to use Java 8 to develop any Java EE applications, in whatever version; so it is valuable for Early-Adopters of Java 8.
