Re: [epp-dev] logo update for Eclipse Packages

-1 for dropping CVS unless there is a very good reason .

“Old and dying” is not good enough a reason for me. There are still users of CVS around, and some might want CVS in Eclipse … and not get it easily if it’s not in the package. To me, the big advantage of the automated compare page is that it’s accurate. Losing that accuracy must be for a very good reason (like if screen real estate is really really limited and the page is practically unusable with CVS in there).

Given the fact that CVS is in some (few) packages but not in all makes it actually a good candidate for keeping, IMO.

+1 for dropping RCP Platform since it’s the logical base of everything and thus included anywhere anyways.

Thanks,

Martin

Package Maintainers,

We really need your input for the list of features we are showing on the compare page and the filter drop down. To date, I don’t believe anyone has responded. Please take a look at the links below and tell us what is missing.

From my point of view, I would suggest we drop CVS Client and RCP Platform from the list of features. CVS is old and dying so why highlight it. RCP Platform is in all packages so I am now sure how it differentiates between the packages.

Thanks

Ian

Hi all,

This is a quick follow-up regarding the work that has been done for the new downloads page. You can review it here (I made some final changes today):
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php

I made changes to the list of features shown on the Compare and Combine packages. We are going to use this page for Kepler, please let me know if your package is missing a check-mark or if you would like to add a feature to this list.

I did my best to create this list but I am sure I can improve it with your input. Please note that I am using the same data for the compare packages page and the new filter functionality on the downloads page. If your package is missing a check-mark, it will translate to the filter functionality.
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/compare_404861.php

Finally, I am missing too many logos so I decided to revert back to the old 32x32 logo. Please ignore my last request for a 42x42 version of your logo.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I have a favor to ask all of you. We did some work on the downloads page and  we are enlarging the package logo:
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php

We are going from 32x32px to 42x42px. Is it possible for you guys to e-mail me a new logo for each package?

I am also trying to decide if we should replace the current logo with the new one or if we should store the new logo in a new path. If we store the logos in a new path you will all need to update the logo path in your package configuration file.

I posted a comment about this on Bugzilla:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=409804#c6

You will need to update your logo path either way if you decide to go from jpg to png.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

thanks
