Re: [epp-dev] New Pulsar and SOA packages

Awesome, Markus! :)

Pulsar is working fine now... and we are ok with this temporary fix, if it is not prejudicial to anybody else.

Thanks for your attention!

Update...

* I added the additional p2 repository to the build scripts. This is something that I usually don't do because the input for EPP is the Simultaneous Release output for good reasons, but I think that early testing qualifies for this exception.

* I started a build for SOA and Pulsar packages only; the results can be found here http://build.eclipse.org/technology/epp/epp_build/36/download/20110210-0819/ and as far as I can see they contain the new p2.discovery bundle org.eclipse.equinox.p2.discovery.compatibility_1.0.1.v20110204-1323.jar.

If there are no objections I will leave that temporary fix in there for this weeks RC3 builds. That means that with the next build *all* packages will include the newer version of this plugin.

If it is feasible I would of course also appreciate an early build to make sure everything will be fine with RC4. Just to save us the quite time ;-)

Hi again, Markus,

A new update from Thomas (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=335043#c24) has made us think if would it be possible to generate only the package for a "nightly-early-RC4" Pulsar (and SOA, if Zsolt wants too), using today's build from Equinox (/eclipse/updates/3.6.x/M20110209-0800). Also, it would only be necessary one platform for this early testing, if it saves time for you. :)

Thanks for your concern, and patience!

Hi Markus,

fortunately Thomas has just updated us: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=335043#c19.

We have our fingers crossed here too! :)

Thanks for your concern,

Hi Daniel,

thanks for checking (and now I took the time to read through the bug report). At least this explains why this fix isn't available in any of the packages. I hope there will be a respin for the discovery plugin soon... let's cross fingers...

Hi Markus,

I had checked /releases/maintenance before sending the email and it is not there. I have just checked in the B3 Aggregator Editor and if by platform you mean the /eclipse/updates/3.6.x repository, there is only version 1.0.0 in there too.

I have also checked the Participating Projects page (http://wiki.eclipse.org/Helios/Participating_Projects), and the offset for Equinox contributions is +0. So, after Pascal fix they should have had a respin, right?

Is there anything else we could do to help?

(I would check that myself but currently I've got no time...)

Hi guys,

I have just downloaded the new packages, and I found out that there isn't a new P2 contribution. The plugin org.eclipse.equinox.p2.discovery.compatibility is still in version 1.0.0, and the fix is in version 1.0.1 (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=335043#c16).

I'm sorry for the confusion, but until the 1.0.1 version is not present on the aggregate repository, our packages still won't work. :(

I hope to have packages available later today. Unfortunately I tried to clean up the file system as much as I could after the releases last week and removed some important files accidentally. Now I need to copy those back to /shared/technology/... on the build server first.

I don't now if you literally need a 'package', but I have just updated /releases/maintenance with all the latest (+2) contributions.

Hi guys,

Due to the critical bug (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=335043) on Pulsar and SOA packages, I'd like to see if would it be possible to generate new packages before Thursday, so we could test the fix provided by the P2 team.
I understand these packages should be generated only after P2's repository is updated, but I don't know the best timeframe for that.

Also, from Pulsar side, it would only be necessary one platform/OS to test it.
