Re: [epf-dev] Use of EPF Composer (build M4)

OK - thanks to you both (Peter and Ricardo). I won't be working on the diagrams in the OpenUP library - just the DSDM library I'm working on.
Cheers

On top of what Peter said, I'd like to emphasize I've already deleted those diagrams in the current OpenUP library, so there's no need to do that if you are working from CVS.

Hello Mark.

Yes, there is an issue around these diagrams that shows up in some cases even before M4.  We are addressing it right now.

Our general recommendation is to actually not create and save these diagrams unless you change their layout.  If you like their default layout you should always close the editor without saving.  Hence the best fix for you now is to open the diagrams, right-click, and select "Delete".  This will get rid of the diagram.  Then go to menu Window --> Preferences... --> Method Authoring --> Diagrams and tick the check box, which will always publish all ADDs even if no user-defined layout exists.

We have an ER that actually displays in the WBS editor if a diagram exists or not.  This will make it easier in the future to find accidentally saved diagrams to get rid of them.

Thanks and best regards,
Peter Haumer.

Ricardo

I have noticed some unusual results with migrating Activity Detail diagrams
from M3 to M4 Composer. Is this something you have picked up with your
tests?

Mark

Dear committers,

Although we have builds of EPF Composer available for download (like M4 and
M5), we are still officially using M3 build to author content for OpenUP.
The new builds cause an upgrade in the library, so you can't use an older
version of the tool to open that library again.

We are now doing some tests with the M4 build with OpenUp library, and we
plan to officially upgrade to M4 soon (then committing the "upgraded"
library to CVS).
We would like to block a specific time for that. The conversion will occur:

8/14 (Monday) - 9:00 to 10:00 AM PDT

Please commit all your changes to CVS before that time, and wait for a
follow up notification saying the migration has been completed. After that,
you will have instructions to use M4 build.

If you have any question, please do not hesitate to send an email to this
list.

Ricardo Balduino
