[epf-dev] Re: Re: XP/Scrum EPF plugins

Yes, I've once created a Scrum-plugin (based on the "Scrum Methodology", i.e. the description of Scrum that Ken Schwaber once put together to get Scrum to meet CMM level 3 organizational extensibility requirements).

I showed the plug-in to Ken Schwaber. While he liked the idea of a Scrum plugin, he didn't like that it was based on this detailed description of Scrum. To quote him: "The Scrum Methodology isn't to describe Scrum effectively, and I've often regretted writing it since it makes it look like a methodology cookbook. As such, I certainly don't want it being used to further describe what Scrum is."

He said that he was willing to provide tips and guidance (time permitting). He pointed me to work that he had done with Conchago for Microsoft VSTS (www.conchago.com).

He also said that the Scrum plugin should me more than a redistribution of existing material.

Therefore, I got into contact with Michael Vizdos (Scrum Master Trainer) but we didn't actually do work together - at least not until now.

I've also met Jim Highsmith in Munich - the idea was to create a plugin with agile basics that could be the base for plugins with additional techniques (like agile modeling, user-stories based estimation and planning, technical practices, configuration management, leadership and team development, focused improvement, retrospectives, etc.). We wanted to stay in touch, discuss the idea at the Agile 2006 conference and lay out the plan for future work.

Somehow, I became bottlenecked. It's difficult to build up a new consulting company and do a lot of other things along the side.

If someone else (with more free capacity) likes to take over the initiative, I'm more than willing to assist and explain what work has already been done, who has already been involved, etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think that I will be able to push the idea myself in the near future.

ObjectMentor was working on the XP baseline.

Christoph Steindl was heading up the Scrum plug-in effort although I
haven't heard anything from him lately. I'll ping him.

I've heard that one or many groups outside of EPF have used Composer to
build XP/Scrum-like plugins. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so,
where one would find them?
