[epf-dev] Architecture Content update

Hi

Here is the most recent position for the Architecture content package. Feel
free to discuss all, some or none of this with me in today's conference
call (see the project Yahoo Calendar for details).

1. Content Status.
We are still lagging in terms of delivering on commitments. I had hoped
that we would complete all Products, Roles and Tasks by last Friday (M4
milestone). The good news is that I uploaded a number of patches today,
which (although late) brings us up to date on these items. I would still
like to get the one remaining Product and one Task complete this week if at
all possible.
I have stopped using the bespoke spreadsheet for tracking bugzilla status
in favour of using the project Burndown workbook, I have attached my local
version of this fyi. The Architecture tab will be up to date against
today's patch uploads (which will be applied to cvs very soon) *but*
content relating to the other content packages will be out of date, so
please ignore it!
(See attached file: Burndown-architecture content.xls)

2. Content for review.
A total of 7 New patches were uploaded today for bugzillas 143180, 143182,
143183, 143184, 143185,143189 and 143195. All views and comments welcome.

I have made a few changes from the contributions you posted - mostly to get
them to conform to the authoring guidelines (especially with regard to the
split between core content and supporting guidelines). I have also done
some editorial work where it looked like things could be a bit clearer or
we needed to paraphrase some source material.

Refine the Architecture was a hard one, as there seemed to be a number of
sources to try and reconcile. I ended up cross referencing RUP for Small
Projects, Donated OpenUP, Ana's re-write for OpenUP Basic (with the SEI and
Kroll/MacIsaac stuff in it) and the original Unified Process "Architecture
Design" material. I cross-tabulated these sources to try and synthesise a
composite. I can send you the spreadsheet if you're interested in seeing
the workings.

To review the work, please download the patches, unzip them and import them
into composer (they are self-contained mini-plugins built against the M3
release of Composer). They reference the latest OpenUP library in CVS that
I was able to replicate against (Saturday), so the links should be up to
date.

3. Objectives for this week
- submit in-progress bugzillas for review - numbers 143191 (Jim), 143192
(Chris),143178 (Jim), 147970 (Chris)
- get all remaining NEW bugzillas assigned. - 143187 (Concept: Component),
143193 (Representing Interfaces to External Systems), 143179 (Guideline:
Using Visualisations). I have picked up 147970, 147971 and 150761 today.

Please get in touch with any questions

cheers

Mark
