Hello Everyone:
It appears that I don’t have write access to our
yahoo calendar so here is a proposed agenda for tomorrow’s conference call:
Background:
Presently the only Bugzilla issue directly relevant to
General OpenUP Content is 133174 “Not enough coverage of collaboration in
BUP”
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=133174
In response to this I have created a plug-in called “General
Intentions” which is intended to capture our general intentions behind
OpenUP’s four core concepts Collaboration, Iteration, Architecture and
Requirements Management. I have started to address this specific bugzilla
issue by mocking up OpenUP’s seven collaborative practices. I don’t
know whether there should be five, or six or seven collaborative practices.
Personally I see the inclusion of the collaborative practices in OpenUP as a
significant innovation that also permeates all aspects of OpenUP. Therefore
this is content that requires a consensus (and also more warm bodies to create
it).
Also most of my attention has been focused on
collaboration, there are three other OpenUP concepts, architecture, iteration,
and requirements management. Should the presentation of these core concepts be orthogonal
to our collaborative principles? That is for each concept have three to seven
guiding practices that capture our intentions behind these concepts (e.g.
perhaps for iteration there are practices such as “shorter is better”,
5 pounds in a 5 pound sack, and coarse grain plan).
Finally, what have we forgotten? What are the general
issues that we must cover beyond creating content for collaboration and even
the three other core concepts?
Objectives:
At the end of the call tomorrow I would like to have the
following:
1) agreement/disagreement
on the creation of a general intentions plug-in.
2) agreement/disagreement
on the seven collaborative practices (are we in the ballpark or are the
proposed practices completely nutso.
3) Agreement/disagreement
on creating practices for the remaining three OpenUP concept (architecture,
iteration, requirements management).
4) List of
items and work not covered by the content of the General Intentions plugin.
5) Should we
plan a General Content workshop to take place during or after the Vancouver
F2F.
From this I want to be able to open up a set of new
Bugzilla issues that contributors and committers can start work on.
Agenda:
1) General
Intentions Plugin
2) Review of
collaborative practices
3) Do we need
to have practices for architecture, iteration, and requirements management
beyond the existing guidelines?
4) What are
we overlooking?
5) Shall we
work on this in Vancouver?
