[emf-dev] Re: [mdt-ocl.dev] RE: [modeling-pmc] TransitionPlan forMDTOCLandEMF"QTV"Components?

Ed,

Is anything happening? Yes and no.

Everyone has done their thing (so yes) and now the ball is in my court and I've done nothing (so no).

It's unfortunate that the balls in my court have been falling flat; sorry for that.  At the last PMC meeting I committed to following up on all the components for which Christian, who resigned, was the only committer: OCL, Query, Transaction, and Validation.

Given that everyone is agreement on the OCL committer list, and given that there's a designated lead, I'll go forward with this list as recommended by Kenn the project lead.

I'll go back and review all those who publicly expressed interest or expertise in Query, Transaction, and Validation components as well, and come up with a list for each of those...

I'll get the lists of proposed names ready before the next Modeling PMC meeting...

Regards,
Ed

All,

I apologize for my silence on this thread as of late. Given
that everyone seems to be in agreement, I'd like to propose
the following "final" list of new committers for MDT OCL,
with Alex as the new component lead:

Adolfo Sánchez-Barbudo Herrera (opencanarias.com)
Laurent Goubet (obeo.fr)
Edward Willink (willink.me.uk)
Aleksandr Igdalov (borland.com)

Ed, please consider this list when making the necessary
arrangements with the EMO.

Thanks,

Kenn Hussey

Hi all,

It's great to see that Alexander could invest time and energy
for MDT-OCL like Christian did before :-) . As MDT-OCL is a
key product for Obeo, it is very important to still have a
strong quality product. I proposed myself to lead as MDT-OCL
because MDT-OCL has become very important to Obeo and we have
(at Obeo) the experience to lead Eclipse projects (SCA, EMF
Compare, ATL, Acceleo MTL will be in Galileo release train).

Of course, I could not agree to the fact that I have "no
direct familiarity with the project" :-\ as I'm an Acceleo
MTL user and contributor and I work with and around OCL since 2004.

Anyway, the emerging new team with Alexander as lead make us
confident for future of MDT-OCL project, continuing to make
OCL easier to use and to accommodate future OCL standards.

I hope in near future to contribute a lot in MDT-OCL and of
course Laurent my colleague will help me to follow MDT-OCL
activities ;-) .

To conclude, Obeo supports proposal of Alexander :-) .

Regards,
Freddy.

Hi Ed and Adolfo!

Thanks for your support! In case I am approved as the lead

I would be glad to accept your help - for sure I would need it!

WBR,
Alex.

Hi All,

I agree. I also support Alex's proposal. I hope that Kenn, as MDT
project lead, and the PMC consider it as a suitable solution.

As I said in my last email, I would also be pleased to

learn a little

bit about some Eclipse's processes concerning leading an Eclipse
project, so Alex, if you required it, I could offer some help to you
(as long as I have sufficient time for it ;) )...

Cheers,
Adolfo.

Hi Alex

I have decided to propose myself as an MDT OCL component lead.
Perhaps, I am not acquainted with all the ins and outs of the
project but I will do my best to become a worthy successor to
Christian in this position.

Excellent. It's good that one of the three recent contributors can
volunteer to be lead. I am sure Freddy would also be a very good
lead, but he has no direct familiarity with the project.

I hope the PMC can rapidly endorse the new team of Alex, Ed and
Adolfo, so that we can start planning how to make OCL extensible to
accommodate future OCL standards and re-usable by

OCL-based languages.

     Regards

             Ed Willink
