I would agree. Have you checked if there is a newer version of org.sonatype.m2e.egit which can use EGit 2.0.0? If not I suggest that you open a bug for org.sonatype.m2e.egit (maybe on bugs.eclipse.org, component m2e) or write a mail on the mailing list.

I have no idea about the state of org.sonatype.m2e.egit. There is a repo on github but the last commit was 6 months ago. I found no source code at eclipse.

somehow I am not able to install the 2.0.0.x version.
