i'm a little confused: is egit-github contained into Indigo release?
I cannot find it via http://download.eclipse.org/releases/indigo ...

no, it's not included in Indigo release train but it's available from

the egit p2 repository at

http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates

and from its own p2 repository at

http://download.eclipse.org/egit/github/updates
