I guess I switch mode to "Workspace" as the first thing I do when I
synchronize. Perhaps we're not using git as it's meant to be, but
there are usually so many commits on the branches that looking at the
changes in the individual commits is less interesting than the overall
result of comparing the heads. Especially as development on a branch
moves rapidly, and as the development branch is public, re-basing
isn't a practical option.
