Cloning and fetching from http://egit.eclipse.org/egit.git results in the following error:

fatal: unable to read tree 0bfc7e15d30c77f277480b427df3c9042a057bc6

Afterwards the repository is broken. I’m not able to repair it.

The missing tree is referred by the tree of the

commit 1aa2a8552f15015fbbd645689df882981863e0a1 and contains org.eclipse.egit.ui.

Cloning with git protocol works.
