Re: AW: AW: AW: [eclipselink-dev] building OSGi bundles - see 297711 dev-package-bundles

Adrian,

I've been looking into 297711, and I am confused. The o.e.p.jpa.osgi bundle is created as part of the dev-package-bundles target, and functions without need to add any other definitions. I'm uncertain whether I'm misunderstanding the issue, this is not a trunk issue, or there is an issue with the build.xml being used (not the one checked in).

Thanks.

Adrian,
This makes sense, I don't use OSGI to upgrade my Glassfish or Netbeans (I do it manually) - therefore I am not a user of OSGI.
This is definitely an issue - 297711reopened.
    thank you

Hi Michael,
I just gave the six bundles to a user and he ran into a conflict with org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.osgi_2.2.0.qualifier.jar. Basically, we was unable to obtain en emf until he updateed the jpa.osgi bundle. Took him a while to find out ;-(. Regards, Adrian

    Adrian,
Good point, other users of OSGI will require it.
fyi, I have been updating the 6 bundles in the Glassfish
3.0.1 server embedded in NetBeans 6.9 right now without updating
this jar - likely only structural changes like package and
    function signatures require an upgrade.

I will reopen and update the bug.
        thank you

    Hi Michael,
thanks. Unfortunately, it turned out that we also needed an up to date
    version of
org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.osgi_2.2.0.qualifier.jar I think we should include building this in the
*dev-package-bundles *target. However, it requires to define a
    property
equinox.lib=org.eclipse.osgi_3.6.0.v20100517.jar in the build.properties (and the
    org.eclipse.osgi_3.6.0.v20100517.jar file in
extension.lib.external). So I don't know if this would be an
    annoyance.

You can download them from the EclipseLink download
page, pull them down via P2, or build them yourself.
When you run the build the bundles will be placed into
            the plugins folder.
