If you name the element "value" instead of "mode" then it will be simpler for users to specify (which may not necessarily be a good thing in this case!)
Will change "mode" to "value"
What happens if a different indirection collection type is used and the validation mode is CORRECTION? A descriptor validation exception or a runtime exception?

It suggests the way to handle "broken" order of the list in the data base, define a new Eclipselink annotation (and a enum it uses) that I am planning to introduce.
