[eclipse.org-membership-at-large] Technology Project Proposal: Eclipse Modeling Framework Technology

As per the Eclipse Development Process, we are notifying the Eclipse Membership-at-Large of the intent of the EMF project to propose the Eclipse Modeling Framework Technology (EMFT) as part of the Technology PMC.

A brief description of the project is below. A project proposal will be posted on http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-emft/index.html <http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-photran/index.html> in a few days.

Project Declaration for "Eclipse Modeling Framework Technology (EMFT) Project"

The EMF project has previously set up EMF Corner <http://www.eclipse.org/emf/models/models.xml> to help folks get more involved, but the project has progressed to the stage where other groups would like to contribute their technology to Eclipse and further develop it at Eclipse. Such new contributions need a staging area where they can begin to grow and be nurtured with feedback and participation from the Eclipse community. To foster such ease of participation, the EMF project would like to propose a new project called Eclipse Modeling Framework Technology, EMFT, as part of the Technology PMC, to act as an umbrella project for new components that provide EMF-based models and general EMF-based utilities. This will make the work available for the community to use and will allow the strong ideas to grow stronger (and the weak ideas to die off).

We look forward to input and discussion from the Eclipse community.
