[eclipse.org-membership-at-large] RE: Re-Contribution to EPL

All,

On November 28th, the Foundation had sent out a communication to its members regarding our Re-Contribution to EPL activity.  We realize how busy our members are at this time of year. If you have not already done so, we would like to take this time to remind you of the approaching deadline of December 15th for Members to complete and submit the Eclipse Re-License Permission Form.  Your cooperation in helping us meet the deadline is much appreciated.  Should you have any questions or require more information, please do not hesitate to contact either Carolyn Hayden (cc’d) above or myself.

Our goal is to have this transition completed by December 31st, 2004.

For those of you who have already sent in your completed forms, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for helping us to meet our transition deadline.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Subject: [eclipse.org-membership-at-large] Re-Contribution to EPL
Importance: High

All,

As part of its formation, the Eclipse Foundation is required to migrate from the Common Public License (“CPL”) to the Eclipse Public License (“EPL”) for all Content published under its auspices.

To make this transition, Eclipse requires the help of all of its Members to agree to re-contribute all contributions to Eclipse.org under the terms of the CPL, where these contributions were made prior to September 9th, 2004.

The attached document "EPL Re-contribution Letter Final.pdf" explains the background in greater detail. Please note in particular that:
  1. All Members have agreed to use the EPL when they signed the Eclipse Foundation Membership Agreement; and
  2. Contributions can include any source code, documentation, bug fixes, designs, suggestions, material and/or other intellectual property submitted through the Eclipse newsgroups, mailing lists, Bugzilla bug reporting system and/or otherwise made available on the www.eclipse.org website by your company's employees, consultants, etc. Basically, if someone has filed a bug report or a posted to a newsgroup your organization has made a contribution.
Please complete the attached document "Eclipse Re-License Permission Form Final.pdf" and fax it to the Eclipse Foundation no later than December 15, 2004.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Carolyn Hayden (cc'd) above or myself.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
