The Eclipse Paho project has requested that the Eclipse Foundation join the OASIS specification organization[1] in support of the MQTT Technical Committee[2].

The Eclipse Foundation policy[3] on joining Specification Organizations requires two weeks of advance notice to the membership-at-large. If anyone has any concerns with the Eclipse Foundation joining OASIS, please let me know at your earliest convenience.

Eclipse Foundation Members,

A proposal has been made to establish an Eclipse LocationTech Industry Working Group [1].  The goal of the LocationTech IWG will be to collaboratively define, build and maintain open source tools for location-based and geospatially-aware products and applications. IBM, Oracle, Actian and others have expressed interest in participating this industry working group.

The proposed charter [1]  for this working group is available for review.   If you have any comments or feedback on the proposed charter, please send them to the mailing list[2].  All Members of the Eclipse Foundation are invited to join and participate in this working group.  If you are interested, please send an e-mail to the mailing list[2].    Based on the feedback and level of interest, the working group will be officially created in the Summer 2012.

The Polarsys and Long-Term Support Industry Working Groups have both had their charters available for community review and feedback for more than the requisite 30 days. The charters are now final and are available on our website at [1] and [2]. These industry working groups are now created as per the IWG process[3]
