FOUNDATION UPDATES

THE 2018 BOARD MEMBER ELECTION RESULTS

Today we are pleased to announce the results of the Eclipse Foundation Sustaining Member and Committer Member elections for representatives to our Board of Directors.

Congratulations to Tracy Miranda and Torkild Ulvøy Resheim who were returned to the Board by acclamation as Sustaining representatives. Dani Megert and Ed Merks will be returning as Committer representatives. We're looking forward to working with you on the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors, effective April 1st. Thank you to all the candidates who agreed to stand for election.

The Eclipse Foundation would also like to recognize the contributions of Chris Anisczcyk, Mickael Istria, and Gunnar Wagenknecht who are leaving the Eclipse Board. The Eclipse community owes them a great deal for their many hours of effort on the Eclipse Board.

FROM JAVA EE TO JAKARTA EE

In Mike Milinkovich's blog post on February 27, 2018, it was announced that Jakarta EE will be the new name for the Java EE technology being brought to, and advanced by, the Eclipse Foundation.

Almost 7,000 people voted in the community poll, with over 64% voting in favor of Jakarta EE. Thank you to all who participated.

ESTABLISHING THE JAKARTA EE WORKING GROUP

A new working group is being created to support the efforts behind the EE4J top-level project, and the migration of Java EE to the Eclipse Foundation. The new working group will be called Jakarta EE Working Group to align with the new brand name chosen.

The members who are already engaged in establishing this working group include: Oracle, IBM, Red Hat, Payara, Tomitribe, Lightbend, Pivotal and Webtide. To participate, please subscribe to the ee.next-wg@xxxxxxxxxxx mailing list (which has been the working name for the working group until now).

The draft charter and related FAQ can be reviewed on the Eclipse Working Groups landing page.

FOSS4G NA WORKSHOPS AND TALKS SELECTED!

It wasn't an easy job for the program committee due to all the great submissions, but the wait is over!

See the list of accepted workshops and talks here and stay tuned for the schedule showing dates and times.

Be sure to register by March 12 to get the best price!

ECLIPSECON FRANCE 2018 CALL FOR PAPERS CLOSING SOON

Just a reminder, submissions for EclipseCon France are due by March 19! 

The conference is 13-14 June with an Unconference, at a new location, on 12 June, so be sure to save those dates.

We'll see you in June in Toulouse!

GETTING READY FOR ECLIPSECON EUROPE 2018

Plans are underway for EclipseCon Europe, planned for October 23 - 25 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Submissions open on May 15, so start planning your talks now!
