OXYGEN RELEASE TRAIN

The Eclipse Simultaneous Release is the end result of a process that sees the coordination of scheduling and communication across Eclipse Open Source Project teams. This year's Eclipse Oxygen is the 12th official simultaneous release; it includes the hard work from 83 open source projects, comprising approximately two million net new lines of code.

The output of this process is a composite repository of open source software and a new release of the Eclipse IDE. The Eclipse Oxygen release includes many improvements in functionality and performance, includes new tools for Java™ code coverage analysis, and can be extended to support Java 9 development via an early access preview.

CALL FOR PAPERS NOW OPEN FOR ECLIPSECON EUROPE

The call for papers is open for EclipseCon Europe 2017. See the program tracks and topics being sought by the program committee. Consider participating in the theme days for IoT and Project Quality.

The early-bird deadline for submissions is June 30, and a handful of talks will be selected from this group.

The final date for all submissions is July 17.

IOT COMMUNITY TECH BYTES

Eclipse IoT and DB Systel have partnered to capture a case study describing DB Systel’s rail system solution for Deutsche Bahn AG.

"For decades, the DB rail system solutions communicated via machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, such as ShortMessage-Service (SMS). However, SMS systems have become expensive to run and maintain. A decision was made to modernize them and replace the M2M technologies with Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, making the railway system more efficient and economical."

ECLIPSE SUMMIT INDIA SCHEDULE

The official schedule for Eclipse Summit India 2017 is in the last stages of finalization and will be available soon. Eclipse Summit India 2017 is the 2nd annual conference presented by the local Eclipse Community in collaboration with The Eclipse Foundation. It is designed by the community, for the community.

EPL V 2.0 UPDATE

Progress continues towards completing the establishment of a new version 2.0 of the Eclipse Public License. What is hoped to be the final public call to review the current draft of the license will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, beginning at 11:00 EDT. Details regarding the call, as well as details regarding the current draft of the license, are available at epl-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxx (Archives). All members, and especially their legal teams, are encouraged to participate in the process.
