There are less than 3 weeks to go until EclipseCon.
MEETINGS AT ECLIPSECON
-Monday, Mar. 17 at EclipseCon there is a new members
meeting in the morning to introduce new members to the Eclipse community,
process and terminology
-In the afternoon the annual general meeting for membership takes
place, which typically has attendance of about 150 people
-Guest Speakers: Raven Zachary of The 451 Group will give
his views on trends in open source and Patrick Wagstrom of Carnegie Mellon
University will present his analysis of community building
-Both meetings are a great way to interact with other
members
-The annual general meeting will be followed by a St. Patrick’s
Day reception, done German style
-We will be organizing an in-person marketing meeting at the
conference
-If anyone from your company is planning to attend remember
that there is an advance discount of $400 if you register by Mar. 14, 2008, and
members get an additional 15% discount
PRESS ACTIVITIES
-Ian Skerrett sent out an email Feb. 20 on EclipseCon press
activities
-A private press interview room will be available for
booking in 30-minute slots on a first-come, first-served basis through Jasmine Teer
at PageOne PR – email jasmine at pageonepr dot com
-Eclipse can provide a quote from Mike Milinkovich for
members’ press releases if you draft your quote and send the full release
to Ian Skerrett at ian at eclipse dot org
-Eclipse will be writing a community press release with
summaries of member announcements. To be included in this press release, Ian
will need a summary of your announcement and a link to more details –
email ian at eclipse dot org
-An updated press list will be sent out a week before
EclipseCon
-There will also be some press & analysts who are not
attending EclipseCon but want to receive news and announcements from the
conference. Ian will include these names in the next updated press list.
-The Foundation will be announcing its focus on getting into
runtime (Equinox, OSGi) at the conference and we’ll be looking for
supporting quotes from members using Equinox. Ian will send out details later
this week.
-The judging of the Eclipse awards is still in process and
finalists should be announced next week. Winners will be announced at an
awards ceremony Mar. 17 at EclipseCon, just before the Members reception.
2. PluginFest

Eclipse is planning a PluginFest similar to the one that
took place January 2007 in London.
The event is designed to allow different vendors to test the inter-operability
and compatibility of their products. This PluginFest will focus on
vendors of mobile and embedded products. You can sign up directly on the wiki.

Eclipse will again run a series of RCP classes around the
world in May and June, in partnership with our member companies. Registration for
20 different classes is now open.
