The DemoCamp program in November and December was very successful and feedback was very positive.  There were democamps in 30 cities with 750 attendees.  Eclipse plans to continue the momentum by running 2 democamp programs in 2008 – one in May/June around the Ganymede release, and in November/December again.

2. Eclipse Community Awards

http://www.eclipse.org/org/foundation/eclipseawards/index.php

http://www.eclipsecon.org

Santa Clara, CA

Mar. 17-20, 2008

Sponsor support for EclipseCon is going well and a press release is going out January 22 announcing the gold sponsors.

If anyone from your company is planning to attend remember that there is an early discount of $700 if you register by February 14, 2008, and members get an additional 15% discount.  We will be organizing an in-person marketing meeting at the conference.

Eclipse is actively recruiting press to attend EclipseCon and is anticipating about 30 press/analysts.  A press interview room will be available at the conference and a press list will be provided about a month ahead.

Opportunities

1) Register for EclipseCon by February 14, 2008 for an early discount at http://www.eclipsecon.org/2008/?page=registration/.

2) Gold, silver and bronze sponsor packages are available for EclipseCon.  Sign up by January 22, 2008 to be included in the press release.  For any questions contact Donald Smith at donald dot smith at eclipse dot org.  Details on sponsorship opportunities are at http://www.eclipsecon.org/2008/index.php?page=sponsorship/.

Call 1-866-362-7064 (North America) or +1 613-287-8000

Call pass code: 880932

The survey results are available to Eclipse member companies, so email Ian Skerrett at ian dot skerret at eclipse dot org if you need a copy.

5. RCP Training

Eclipse ran an RCP training series with member companies last September-October.  Another series is being planned for May-June 2008.  The first planning call is taking place January 17, 2008 so more info is still to come.  If you’re interested in participating in the planning call, email Ian Skerrett at ian dot skerret at eclipse dot org and he will send you the details.

6. PluginFest

http://wiki.eclipse.org/PluginFest_2008

Sunnyvale, CA

April 16-17, 2008

Eclipse is planning a PluginFest similar to the one that took place January 2007 in London.  The event is designed to allow different vendors to test the inter-operability and compatibility of their products.  This PluginFest will focus on vendors of mobile and embedded products.  Planning just started this week so more info is to come.  Promotions will likely start within 2 weeks.

A PluginFest for enterprise & Java was suggested in the fall, but there didn’t seem to be enough interest so it didn’t go forward.  If this would be of interest to you, please email Ian Skerrett at ian dot skerrett at eclipse dot org.  Another suggestion is to see if we can provide some type of certification for participating as this would help reassure customers about inter-operability.
