Eclipse Marketing Team Teleconference September 13, 2005
Time: 12:00-1:00pm EST / 9:00-10:00am PST
Agenda:
· Eclipse Developer Seminar in China
· Marketing Session at Eclipse Member Meeting
· EclipseCon update
· Eclipse Seminar Series
China Developer Seminar
· Developer in Seminar hosted in Beijing on December 1st.
· Chingwau University will help provide some speakers.
· Agenda: Mike Milinkovich to do the keynote. Then a plenary session on
the architecture. Then someone from the platform teams. There will be a
business track and a technical track.
· Two tiers of sponsorship, with speaking slots available.
·
Marketing Session at Eclipse Member Meeting
- Eclipse Marketing Symposium will be held September 21st
- Carl Zetie of Forrester will be discussing enterprise adoption of
Eclipse and Steven O’Grady will be doing a presentation on bottoms-up
marketing – marketing to developers.
- Lightening talks: 5-10 minutes devoted to a case study and then open
up for Q&A
o Profile of Eclipse Developer
o IBM – Extends and Expanding the value of open source software
o White River – Overview of the embedded market
o Sybase – Profile of successful PR campaign
o Instantiations – What Portals and online magazines drive traffic
o Catalyst – Partner programs
o European and Japanese representation about marketing in each of those
countries
- Luncheon and then sessions in the afternoon
- September 15th is deadline for registration
- 40 people have signed up for marketing meeting
EclipseCon 2006
· Marketing committee has received sponsorship package. In October, the
sponsorship packages will be made available to the public.
· CFP is out.
Eclipse Seminar Series
The Eclipse Foundation is organizing a seminar series to raise Eclipse’s
visibility.
o 4 cities will be earmarked: Raleigh, Dallas or Austin, Atlanta, San
Diego.
o To be held in January or February
o Theme: Adopting Eclipse and open source in the enterprise, with a
business focus as to how you can use Eclipse in the enterprise
o Seminars to be day in length
§ First half of the day, the seminar would focus on Eclipse and open
source which is more business oriented.
§ 2nd half of a day – user group: tutorial/code camp in the afternoon
o Eclipse Member Companies to sponsor the series. Costs TBD
o First city to be free as it is a test seminar.
